Monday - Piano Lesson Day

I got this snapshot today during our piano lesson, of Evangeline
playing a Ravel concerto with Rober Auler (our teacher) at the
Sate University of New York.

Canfield Detective Agency's March Meeting

This month we were very privileged to have a special guest speaker come and give a presentation on latent fingerprinting and lifting. Chief Mark A. Spawn from the Fulton Police Department gave a demonstration on the different fingerprint powders available, which ones to use on certain surfaces, and the correct way to lift the developed prints.Chief Spawn is a nationally recognized expert witness in fingerprint identification, has written an article on developing fingerprints affected by fire, and was chosen national Officer of the Month for June 2002 by the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund. Here, shown above, Chief Spawn is placing a developed print on the back of a fingerprint card. He explained that at least 12 points in a print is needed for an identification.During and after the demonstration, Chief Spawn very graciously answered our numerous questions. We discussed poroskopy, how he became interested in fingerprinting, and many other things. At the close of the meeting, we presented Chief Mark Spawn with a certificate of appreciation from the Canfield Detective Agency.

Friends

We have had lots and lots of company this winter, which we always enjoy! Our parents have taught us alot about the value of friendships. Daddy had a couple of his old friends come to visit. He was in Jim Hobbs' wedding over 22 years ago. Jim likes to argue with Daddy just like he did back when they were young. We like to debate him too and he says that we are just like daddy.

Jeff Klem visited with his wife and youngest daughter, who was our age. Daddy hadn't seen him since college graduation way back in the 70's, and we enjoyed hearing stories of their college escapades!!!!!!

Special post for Dan Canfield.....

Hello Dan!

It was such a delight and surprise to hear from you! Would love to contact you via e-mail and see some pictures! (Our e-mail address is: djcanfield@afo.net) It's amazing that we shared the same name, love of music and Christ, and never knew each other existed! And to think you have 3 daughters, too! This is a small, small world!

God bless,
the other Canfields

More pictures from the lodge and family gathering.....

Hostetter Christmas/Birthday Party

This weekend our family went down to PA for our uncle's 50th birthday party/reunion. It was held at a HUGE, 3-story hunting lodge on the very top of a mountian! You could overlook the surrounding valley and the mountians beyond. What a sight! You can see in the pictures how high and steep it was! It also made a great backdrop for pictures!

Photos: Elizabeth and Evangeline on a rock at the edge of the mountian.

A certian one of the twins don't seem to have a fear of heights - and look what it got her! The camera caught her just as she toppled off - or did she?

More pictures comming later......

December 25th

This year our Grandparents came up from Pennsylvania and spent Christmas with us......... We all had splendid time together and ejoyed it very much! We continued the tradition of we girls camping out under the dinning room table Christmas Eve, and on Christmas, having a good ol' fashioned wrestling match with our dad!

Photos: Christmas evening we went over the our friends house, (who also happen to be our neighbors) and spent the time singing around their dinning room table. It made for some wonderful memories!

Investigator Evangeline is seen hard
at work with the fingerprint powder
she got for Christmas. She collected
many prints that day!

For Sunday morning Church Elizabeth
played the offertory and Emily
posed as Mary, while "Mary Did You
Know?" was being sung.

Mom's Recovery - Laughter is Good Medicine

Our mom has been recovering from a surgery she had about a week ago. ( The doctors removed a tumor the size of a cantaloupe. ) We really appreciate all the cards and meals everyone has brought in! We got a surprise visit from the Wilson Family the day we brought Mom home from the hospital...... Mrs. Wilson took a shift catering to Mommy and gave us nurses a little break while Mr. Wilson and Daddy chatted on intellectual matters.....

While the parents where fellowshipping with one another, we kids were downstairs having a blast!
If we weren't chomping on popcorn or cookies, we were laughing....... Just look at the photo of Lucas and Josh and you'll see what I mean!

The City Mouse visits the Country Mouse.....

We got to enjoy an afternoon playing on a farm with Sarah Fuller and her sister Rachel, (holding the kitten) Shonnah Kastler, and Lucas and Joshua Wilson. We spent some time crawling around in the hayloft, then went down to see the chickens in the lower barn.

See Lucas holding the chicken?? Doesn't he look so innocent and sweet?? You would never guess that he was about to throw that dumb chicken in my face. If this blog had sound, you'd be deaf from my scream!!!!!

Election Time.........

It's that time of year again! Election time has always been exciting for us......... Ever since I can remember our parents would take us along with them to the polls - they would let us go in with them, then tell us which levers to pull. (Elizabeth "voting" in place of / with our mom in the local elections.)

Sunday Sunset

I am always awed at the beautiful "paintings" God has made for us to enjoy!
Since we don't usually have such goreous sunsets in the city, I had to go outside and get some snapshots.
