From the Studio of Elizabeth and Evangeline Canfield: Student Recital

Last evening Evangeline and I had 7 of our students give a recital as part of a homeschool program. We didn't get a group photo this year, but I think you'll enjoy seeing the photos we did get. They did a great job, and made me very proud of them!

Weekend Performance at the Eastman School of Music

This weekend Evangeline and I accompanied oboist Aaron Reece at the Eastman School of Music. It went wonderful, and we had a great time!

Eastman School of Music - Oboe Rehersal

Evangeline and I will be accompanying a SUNY professor for his doctorate recital at the Eastman School of Music. Aaron Reece is the first oboist in the history of the school to play all his own compositions for his doctorate recital. We will be playing an oboe sonata with him this weekend in Rochester.

Intruder #4

This morning when I went to check the trap, it was empty!! The brilliant little mouse got the cracker and got out!! I think that when mommy put the trap down, the cracker slid forward, so when it opened the trap door, it didn't have to go all the way in. All that was left was peanut butter on the trap door and droppings on the kitchen sink. Yuck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So, we didn't get a picture of that one.

Intruder #3

Wed. morning I checked the trap and found another mouse. We had a bright idea! The people we do biology with have a pet python anaconda. We could give it to them! After class we took it outside. I stood on the bench ( for safety sake) to get some pictures. We were going to transfer the mouse into a container. Well, when they pulled the trap out, the mouse popped out too!! Of course, it set us girls screaming! They tried to catch it, but it was too fast. Probably the mouse will come right back into the basment and we'll have to catch it all over again!!!! We never did get a picture of the mouse.

Intruder #2

Saturday we got a new type of mouse trap. It's a cube type box where it goes in but doesn't come out. Monday morning I checked in the trap and found an extremely cute mouse!! We didn't want to let it go in our yard because it would come right back in, so we took it to a store parking lot to let it go - nothing like transferring your problem to someone else:)))!! Evangeline and I let it go. I had to get the picture and let it out because she was too scared. I snapped the last picture too soon, but oh, well.

The Night Time Intruder

For about a week we have had some clues that some creature has been in our kitchen. Things were being moved and food in the basement eaten. We tried to catch the thief, but it always got away. So, two nights ago, I installed a type of surveillance video camera that could capture some of its actions. Sure enough, after 2:30 A.M., it crawled under the basement door. It tried to take some of the hard shelled nuts that we had set on the floor for it. It tried to slide it under the door, but the nut was too thick, so he took and hid it. We didn't know were he had hidden it, so we checked all over the kitchen. We found the nut behind the bread machine. Before Daddy went to bed the next night, he put a sticky trap in the sink. When I was just about ready for bed, I heard this crash, bang, clang, bong, bop, thump, bump, whomp and thwack. At first, I didn't know what it was. Then it dawned on me................................it was the INTRUDER!!!!!!!! As fast as I could go, I dashed down the stairs. I was the first one of us girls who was brave enough to look. I crept up very cautiously. I was about 1ft. away from the sink when I saw it, or rather its ears. Of course, it set us off screaming. By that time our parents had come downstairs. The twins and I climbed up on our kitchen bench. Daddy said it would come flying out of the sink if it got lose - that made us scream even more! None of us wanted to get near the creature or the trap!! While watching and screaming, we saw it get one of its feet lose. There was only one foot left stuck to the trap. Mommy went to get a box to put it in. With the aid of the box and piece of cardbord to slide under it, she got it out. Daddy double bagged it and put it outside in the garbage can. Today, Mommy checked the garbage can and found that it had chewed a hole through the box and bags. Fortunantly, it couldn't get out of the garbage can.

Music theory class and tea - twins birthday (part 3)

A freind of ours, Robin Reese, who is a teacher a the college agreed to teach us a music theory class for our birthday. And as if that wasn't enough, she went and suprised us with afternoon tea! We had a great time!

Twins 16th birthday (part 2) - Lunch with the Chief and cake back at the station

After lunch we went back to the station for a supposed-to-be suprise birthday party. The cake was yummy! I especially liked the junior bagdes on top! They even had a special group of vocalists to sing happy birthday to us! (that included police officers, friends from the mayors office, and the station secretary.) It was a blast!
